By doing this exercise it gave me a good understanding of how typography works. Using the grids helped me a lot with shape and proportion to keep all letter forms consistent. For my map design i used the outline of Otara and layered it with photographs and an old letter. I inverted the images to symbolize the bad and added color to symbolize the good. Final Map

I took this Panorama at one of the local parks in Otara. I liked the scenery because it shows a good contrast between the good and bad of Otara. These experiments were a mixture of laser cut, paint, spray paint, stencils and pen. I found doing experiments important because its a great opportunity to see if your ideas work or not.

For my craft type I used spray paint and acrylic paint. I wanted to my type craft to have a rough / street look by scratching into the paint, doing thick strokes and being very expressive with textures.
